Kenwood A901 only has one speed?

Hi all,

Our kenwood recently blew a fuse, then when it was replaced, the thing would only go at one speed when it was switched on.

I read on this forum that many people found the source of the problem to be the triac speed controller, however, the reference number for the part which they baught to replace it was BTA08-600B, and this does not correspond with the number which is on our one, which is 71713 B7750, can anyone confirm that the new part would work instead of it?

Secondly, i have a soldering iron, but im by no means an expert, is the job to replace it a very tricky one, or is it not so bad that a ameteur could manage it?

Thanks in advance

Following is the electronic component of A901

Capacitors
0.15uF 250V
0.047uF 250V

Resistors
220 ohms 1W
56 ohms 1W

Triac
BTA08 -600B ( 8A 600V Triac will do)

OTHER RESISTOR IS 56 OHMS

I AM TRYING TO FIX MY WIFES A901 AS WELL THE TRIAC REPLACEMENT THEY SUGEST IS A 600VOLT 8AMP RATED TRIAC. IT SHOULD DO THE JOB. ALL MY CAPS ARE BLOWN AND ONE OF THE RESISTORS. CAN YOU STILL READ THE VALUE OF THE RISISTOR CONNECTED TO THE CENTER LEG OF THE TRIAC. THE ONE ON THE RIGHT LEG IS A 220 OHM. I AM GOING TO TRY THE TRIAC THEY SUGEST AND IF I CAN GET THE RESISTOR VALUE I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF IT WORKS.
