My gas hob is constantly sparking?

When the power supply is switched on my gas hob constantly sparks even when all burners are lit, does anyone know how to stop this noisy sparking.

I know this thread is 3 years old but I stumbled across it and the answer GW gave was spot on - lift the gas knobs on the hob and clean it all out in there - I used a can of compressed air to blow the crap out and seems to be sorted now. 10 minute job.

I'v had the problem myself, it was a case of spillage on the knobs which are not sealed, this allowed the contacts on the sparker switch to be linked by the spillage and so spark constantly.
The cure is to dry the switches out, I managed to leave the oven below on for an hour or so with the power off to the hob which dried them out.
I am looking at finding seals to cure the problem, the maker cannot help, their advice is don't allow boiling over !! [ Baumatic ]

Hi, Just wondered if you'd been told the answer yet - ours is also constantly sparking and would ideally like to fix it ourselves rather than pay a costly electrician? If you have any answers could you email me @ deanire2003@yahoo.co.uk
