How can I fix my Belling Platinum DB2 Range Cooker?

The above cooker has just just turned itself off. Further inspection , pointed to the mains electric, as the gas rings were working fine. The gas seems to have stopped in the ovens. When I change the fuse in the fused switch, the fuse immediiately blows. Any ideas, before I call out the experts.

It is most likely the varistor, if it has blown it may be short circuiting the mains supply. It is a 275V 4.5KA metal oxide varistor, should be able to get one from an electronic components distributor for pence
