This brings up a few things to check for me: Does your computer recognize the DVD player. Go to My computer and click on it. Does your DVD player show up there? On the left, click on View system information. Select the hardware tab and then click on Device Manager. Does your DVD player show up there?(DVD/CD-Rom drives) If yes, good. If no, you may need to reinstall the DVD software and utilities(usually on OS disk or the one that came with DVD if you bought it later.) If it showed up in those places then at least it is recognizing it is connected. Stay in My Computer when you put in a DVD. Does it show a name for the DVD when you put it in? If yes, good. If no, your DVD player may have gone bad. It is not reading the disc. If you see a name for the DVD you put in and it still does not play, you may want to try some new DVD player sooftware. Some sites have it for free. I hope this gets you going.
