Problem with Ideal Isar HE24 Combi Boiler?

I have recently had an Ideal Isar HE24 Combi Boiler fitted, 3 Weeks.
The problem that I am having is no heating or hot water, when I switch the boiler on, a default code starts to flash after a few seconds, L followed 9.
According to the trouble shooting manual pressing the reset button often solves this problem, but when I press the reset button it just brings up another flashing code, 0 followed by three horizontal lines stacked on top of each other.
I have Bled the radiators and also followed all the instructions in the trouble shooting guide, all to no avail .
I would be very grateful if somebody could help me, as the heating engineer cannot come out until next Wednesday.
I'm not worried about the heating, It's the thought of no hot water for 4 days. Thank You.

Nothing is coming on with my isar boiler. The heating or hot water are not working. I'm wondering if it could be the pilot light ,which has gone out? Please help.

My Ideal Standard HE30 8 yr old had the V1 jet engine rumble and the flashing F/L each time it locked out.
After changing the pcb, gas valve, ignition electrodes, spark generator, control panel and back plate with no change my tech said it must be the fan when running slow during modulation on heating as it ran OK in DHW mode when running fast and when working.Fan replaced.
After all this the V1 stopped but after running for 5hrs it locked out F/L again. A chance Web chat with a colleague said that he had once come across the same problem. Cure blow through the White tube on the side of the gas valve clearing out any debris from the casing above. The boiler now working well after 3 wks of angst. Hope this helps someone out there if only for the reduced stress. Ideal were of no use what so ever trying to solve this they only deal with on the bench as new faults.

I have ideal Isar he24 it made loud rumbling noise for a few days after freezing temperature,then knackered.i turned gass off at mains then turned water stop cock off,then turned boiler off at switch next to boiler and on boiler.then I unscrewed the two tap valves underneath boiler with pan to catch inch of water that drains out of it.Then you take cover off,then unscrew the 4 screws on main cover and remove,then get a few plastic bags and stuff underneath the long thin metal plate with warning on to cover electrics when you unscrew it.then place bucket underneath boiler and unscrew the 3 screws on long thin plate with warning writing on it and water will poor out be carefull doesn't go all over electrics,then dry out with rags then replace long thin metal plate.then replace both remaining covers,then fill boiler again by putting connection valves back on the pipes underneath boiler then put water back on at stop cock,then turn a few screws on the pipes to refill boiler, then put gas back on on the mainsreplace all covers,then press reset button and bobs yer uncle

I am in Stoke on Trent, my Isar HE30 was fitted 7 years ago, ideal standard told me during a phone call they should last for 10 years.
Is there anything we could do together to prove their product is not fit for purpose, as so many people on so many forums are having so many problems with these boilers.
I have had PCB, diverter valves, spark generators, thermostats....now it's tripping out after making a lot of noise. I have thrown hundreds if pound at this boiler. Do ideal Standard have any Standards?

my problem with he24 boiler started when i pressurised the system, water came out of the auto vent, it lodged in the recess of the ignitor and shorted. A message came up indicating flow thermistor or pcb failure, it kept coming back to pcb failure, i tested the thermistors fitted two new ones still not working, checked all connections again and it then fired up a treat, first problem in five years.

isar 30 he boiler when you turn the heating on the boiler flares up and the central heating starts to run constantly for about 4 to 5 mins after about 5 minutes the boiler starts banging and rumbling .i have traced this to the fan area also when i have looked at the flue out side when the gas injects into the boiler there is a loud rumble noise any one have any idea of the problem

Ideal Isar HE24
L F code is usually to do with ignition electrode kit. This part cost under £20. Got mine for £16.98. Very simple to fit if you know what your doing. The electrode looks a bit like and is about the size of a car sparkplug. Itis held in place by 2 allen key screws.
Make sure power to boiler is switched off !
1) Simply undo the 2 screws with allen key
2) pull out electrode
3) fit new electrode and replace the 2 screws

Did it myself and saved £40.00
Then went ta pub. Hehe.

That this is a crap boiler, is clear. I've had it in my house for 6 years and it has been nothing but bother. To try and answer some of these:

The loud popping noise when you run water through it. This is the diverter valve starting to go. If the water is working fine then you can just ignore the noise. If the noise bothers you, then you should get the diverter valve changed.

The boiler coming on of its' own accord. The boiler has pre-heat so that when you run hot water the hot water comes in much more quickly. This means that it occasionally needs to pre-heat itself. How often depends on the ambient temperature. My one is mounted outside, so in the winter it's pre-heating maybe once an hour. God only knows how much gas it's wasting doing that.

And to give you an idea, in 6 years of use I have gone through 2 PCBs, 1 diverter valve, 1 overheat thermistor and one hot water thermistor. This really is a truly awful example of British Engineering.

hi i also have a isar he24, i live in a housin association flat and can not touch it basically they have emergency call outs but just not at weekends :( i have to 2 children and wondering if there is anyway externally i can fix this problem? i have bled the raidiators and have reset the bolier and made sure the pressure is correct, but all its coming up with is 0 then 3 dashes (= like that but a 3rd dash included lol) any help much appriecated as need to bath the kids ect thanks x

Our boiler was making loud bang when igniting and every morning switching itself off, showing "L" then "F" as the fault. Press the re-set button and the same would happen the following day.
Our plumber fitted a new what looked like a large spark plug and a small black square device that sends the power to the spark.(Don't know the technical terms)
Now works fine, just awaiting the bill.

none of these answers appear to be answer, they are all questions!! I bought a house in July with an Isar HE24 boiler. It made a noise like a whoomp, or a really loud bang everytime it did the hot water preheat (every hour and a half) This was cured when the boiler was serviced. The pressume on mine needs to be topped up every few months - I once left it too long and the boiler was making banging noises and the pressure guage needle was swinging about. Just recently my Dad came to lay the lounge radiators down (so the plasterer could work behind them), and he accidently damaged a pipe and it drained the system. I got home from work before the central heating came on and the boiler was showing fault code h9 or L9 (can't remember) which is due to loss of water pressume - there was no water in the sysem as it had all drained out. If the boiler has an error code flashing and especially if the pressure is below 0.5 bar turn your boiler off and do not try to use hot water or central heating as you will damage the boiler. If there is a filling loop fitted you can use a screwdriver to repressurise up to 1 or 1.5 bar but don't go higher than this. The pressure will go up to about 2 or 2.5 when the central heating is on. I hope this info helps someone!!

I have an ideal isar he24 I had a plumber moving a radiator upstairs today and the system had been drained, while being drained the boiler made some very loud noises so it was turned off, when refilling the boiler later in the day a code h9 appeared we foned ideal they said a poss blockage which then the plumber sorted, the code the changed to a d and hasn't changed since it's cold no heating or water for the night anyone any ideas wot could be the problem, went torun the tap before and it went warm for a minute then bk to freezing cold any advice please

i have an ideal isar boiler which the hot water has just stopped working and the heating does work but also come across a leak. i have checked the water pressure and it is now fine although it was a little low but after topping the pressure up the leak has got worse. these boilers are rubbish in my opinion.

I have a Ideal Isar He24 boiler which I have had a few problems with. Luckily they where covered by the 2 year manufacturers warranty. My latest problem was the boiler not doing anything when power was switched on. After looking on multiple forums I concluded that the PCB needed replacing. I was encouraged to buy one off e-bay which I did, at a lot cheaper price than the trade counters where asking. I replaced the PCB with the new one only to find the fault was not repaired. At this point I used logic to trace where the fault may be. The only place it could be is at the external controls the thermostat or daily programmer. I disconnected these two interfaces (by-passed them) and hey presto working boiler. I am a competant electrical engineer who works with control panels on a daily basis and understand how to fault find. I am not recomending everybody should have a go at this but don't be miss led by all you read. Open all your alternatives before you dive in and spend your hard earned cash.

3 lines is an overheat fault, disconnect dryfire thermistor the pump will run leave for 5 mins plug thermistor back in problem solved or manually turn the pump by removing screw completely and turn with a screwdriver!!
colin theproblem with popping is probably just the boiler firing up for the built in preheat and ignition probe may need changing causes explosive ignition. the other possability is that your condense sump,trap or pipe is blocked causing boiler to fill with water and when boiler lights up it will give a strange noise but normally will eventually flash up LF... hope this helps

Could be the PCB has failed, as recently happened on my HE30, with the same error code. I replaced mine with an orange box version and it now functions correctly (well almost).
Isn't it still under guarantee as it is only 3 weeks old?

has it been working previously to this problem.?????????? the fault code is h/ex overheat so you right to be making sure system is full and air free and all isolation valves are open.
