How can I remove my 2000 Chrysler Cirrus stereo?

My 2000 Chrysler Cirrus stereo is going bad and the sound goes in and out, if it works at all. I want to replace the until, but the repair shops all want lots of money to do it. I want to do this by myself. How can I remove the old stereo from the car?

thank you.

You notice there is a trim piece surrounding the stereo that also runs around the air controls. The plastic is shaped like a digital 8. That pries out, just carefully use something blunt and rounded like a butter knife and work it out. Don't use a screwdriver or sharp knife or you'll scratch up the trim or surrounding dash.
There are 2 bolts securing the stereo, one on each side. Remove them.
Pull the stereo straight out, it might be hard at first as it is wedged in.
Unplug the two connectors.
To install a new unit, you'll probably need a new dash trim piece because the new stereo will not be as large. Stereo shops sell these ready made kits for your car. You'll also need a ready made wiring harness, same store, for your car. This mates the Chrysler wiring plugs to the standard stereo ports.
There will also be some diagrams in that installation kit.
Easy swap.
