Hotpoint WLW3400 leaking?

I was just given a Hotpoint WLW3400 washing machine. It sat in their basement for a couple of years. When I plugged it in, everything seems to be working but it is leaking under the unit while the washer is filling. Can you tell me how to fix this?

Let me tell you about leaks... I just fixed a similar problem on a Hotpoint WLW3400. In my case I had two unrelated leaks. The first leak was a slow leak that seemed harmless enough and produced a very small puddle every time I washed a load of laundry. As it turns out, the tub assembly had rusted through near the top fill point. I used a little sand paper to clean it up; then I sealed it with QuickSteel putty I purchased for $5.95 at my local Wal-Mart. The second leak was pretty serious and was due to worn seals on the water pump. I went to www.laundryparts.com, did a search for "pump" and browsed until I found a GE Water Pump. The picture matched what I had in my machine so I ordered it. I paid $18 for the pump and $10 for shipping. 3 to 4 days later the pump arrived and the problem was solved with very little effort. My 68-year-old mother could have done the work. A thorough check of the hoses and clamps finished up the job and it works like new. A very good parts breakdown is avaialable at www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/parts/. Click on the "Start Shopping at the Parts & Accessories Store" link, do a search for a laundry repair part and enter your model number. You can use the diagrams to get the part numbers and to make sure you assemble everything correctly. Good luck.
