Dyson DC07 unable to remove filter from housing and have lost manual?

Have removed housing from main body of vacuum cleaner, but cannot get the filter out of the housing. I have pulled it up but it won't come out. I can shift it a tiny bit, but can't get it out.

I had the same problem and Harry d's answer helped. I used two small screw drivers between the yellow filter housing and the purple plastic outer working around the edge little by little to force the yellow filter case up. Also put a large screwdriver inside (via the hole in the purple outer) to twist the centre of the yellow case upward.
This took me ages! Just be patient and keep working around the edge, forcing it up (without breaking the outer, of course!)
I too am about to find some very fine sandpaper to smooth both the yellow filter case and the purple outer.

The manual says "lift off" ha ha. After a half hour struggle, I slid a thin knife round the edge and eventually, using a screwdriver carefully twisting it in the centre hole, managed to get it off. The reason? The instruction label on the edge of the filter (a copy of the manual's instructions on washing the filter) had stuck to the grey outer filter holder. It's out with the sandpaper whilst I now wait 12hrs for the filter to dry.

Hi there, if you havent replaced the filter before its probably totally clogged, when you are trying to remove it note the the spring type mechanisam in the center of the filter housing stays behind. dont wet it as you will never remove it. i can supply filter and housing. www.vacparts.net

Yeah the dust gets inside and makes it tough to remove. Try twisting it as you pull, it'll come out.

2 filters on these - the one below the dust drum is below a snap on plastic cover, prise it off and the filter element pulls out. The one on the side is below another plastic cover and it is released by pressing a trigger with an arrow on it...again the filter element should just pull out.
