I have just been trying to do the same job (wish I had seen this first as I had to work it all out on my own!), but I can't get the bearings out. I have been knocking the shaft as hard as I can and there is no movement at all. Any ideas?

Ive got an older model but should be the same principle, everything undoes from the front,1.unplug,take off the top panel, take off the door, seal, lock, and any screws holding on the front panel, the timer selector(front control panel) can be taken off by loosening the screw through the hole in the top of the washing machine which should reveal a couple of screws holding the panel on,unattach anything else connected to the drum casing(including motor + concerete blocks)and loosen shock absorbers, the drum should pull out from the front.undo the clips and remove the whole front of the drum.As for the bearings, the retainer nut at the back is a right pain in the rear to get off(i'm in the process and nearly broke my thumb!),once its off the drum should slide out (with a swift whack from a hammer!),knock out the bearings and replace, then put it all back together again.voila.Hope this helps.
