How can I fix my treadmill which will no longer incline ?

I have a SportsArt 1098F treadmill.

On the flat, it works fine but when I try to go to incline, it comes up with an ERR 6 message and the only way to clear this message is to turn it off/on.

I've taken the cover off and given it a bit of a clean, not that it needed much doing.

I no longer have the instruction manual and can find nothing on the net relating to ERR6 so am hoping for more success here.

I've tried a few times, at various speeds, but cannot hear any motor other than the belt motor.

There is a time delay of a couple of seconds between pressing the incline button and the ERR6 appearing and the treadmill shutting down.

The only other problem is that I'm UK based so need to try to find a service agent for this make over here but thanks for your help anyway.

error 6 is an incline error. The gears inside the elevation motor are plastic and sometimes break. The sensor is in with the gears. If sensor doesn't pick up a signal the treadmill shuts down. If you can hear the motor run for a second before the code this could be it.
