Same problem here, when I took it apart evrything was working fine exept the Lazer thingy, im no scientist but I would have thought it would have burnt a hole clean through my eyeball when i closed the cd drawer, but alas no light at all, so I think it must be something to do with the fact that it needs to read a portion of the cd to know if there is one in it, if the lazer aint working then it cant read the cd, hence - "no disk".
