can a broken indicator switch stop my 406 hdi starting by the key

If you have lights on the dash with ign ON and no start etc, try cleaning the primary connection on your starter motor. It's a small spade connector and often gives bad contact. I had a breakdown with this once.!
My indicator stalk fused last night and I am about to fix it. It did not stop anything else working. Hope that helps? Rover 45
