Hi tina. I posted the answer to this earlier today. The problem is the laser lens comes loose. I worked for sharp around 4 years ago when i fixed this fault i have done like 200 of them remove all cd's before you start. firstly you need to get to the cd unit by removing three screws to the left (the top one is long because it's securing the cd unit) the same for the right then the back all screws going around the out side then two holding the serial plate remove the cd unit dissconnect the wires turn over two screws holding the plastic cover then the four from cd unit unplug the two wires the thin one has tape securing it. Now un clip the black cover from laser assembly then the circular lens from laser assembly clean off the old glue use a heat gun to refit the lens.
