My fabric softener dispenser does not empty, how do I fix it? What could the problem be?

on my bosch the softener dispenser relies on a siphon action when the water reaches a certain level in the dispenser. this sometimes gets blocked by a build up of "conditioner sludge". take the dispenser out (there's usually a clip on the side) and give it a good clean under a tap. hope this is of some help.
