how can i fix my hotpoint wlw3400 washing machine?

will fill with water but then stop and not continue. after emplying it by hand, it will then only start to fill sometimes. most of the time the contol does nothing

Sounds like you need to replace the motor brushes- cost around £15 and take about 20 mins to fit.
