lead pipe leaking?

how do i stop a lead pipe from leaking. I want to cap it off and bury it. thanx

Can you turn the water off to the lead pipe? If so you can cut the end off and put a fitting on called a 'Lead Lok' - its brass and effectively means that you can connect your lead pipe to the more usual copper or plastic fittings, and fit a stop end on after that.
