Replace power cord on a Kenmore 116 31913100 vacuum clewner?

How do I replace the power cord on my Kenmore upright vacuum cleaner -- model # 116 31913100? I don't know how to get to the attached end of the cord!

You need to remove the top handle part first. You can do this by removing a single screw below the handle in the back of the vacuum. Make sure you have the power chord unwound from the vacuum. After removing the screw, simply push the handle unit rearwards and it will slide right off. Next, open the bag compartment. At the top of the bag compartment there are two screws. This is what hold the sensors indicator light cover on. Remove both screws. You should then have access to the where the power chord is wire nutted to the main power wires. Hope this helps.

I'm trying to figure out the same problem. I tried to take off the cover over the bag receptacle as the long screw in the back had fallen out and I was unable to screw ity back so it would hold whatever it was supposed to hold, I'm stumped
