Problems with Proline LD2215D Digital TV?

I purchased a Proline 22 Digital TV model no LD2215D.
I am getting a poor digital reception. I have 3 other digital TV‘s in the house and all work perfectly, plus a freeview box set up. I have tried the TV in all the other points in the house but still no picture.

I returned the unit to the shop where purchases. They got the TV to work on there setup obviously a highly boost network system considering the number of TV’s working on the system.
I tried again at home
I get the blue information bar up which show the Chanel but no picture and it shows a signal strength of about 3/.4’s of the way on the bar.

I have since tried the TV at my daughter house – She has a new digital Arial – still I could only obtain about 2/3 or the channels only.

The analogue system works perfectly in all the locations.

It appears that this TV must need a very high digital signal – If this is so should there not be a warning on purchase.

The store say they can’t help me as because the TV works in store on there system.

So I have just spent £249.00 on a useless TV and might as well put it in the dustbin.

Anything you can suggest would be appreciated.

If you don't want to go through all the hassle of getting your money back then just buy another digibox

Terry said everything I was going to, but better.

Go for it.

Better still, make sure everything is in writing.

If you send letters, send them registered, get proof of delivery (off the web) and hang on to that.

Check out the Citizens Advice Bureau, Which? Legal helpline (about a tenner for 3 months) and the Trading Standards office.

Do post your results here. It's always satisfying to see the outcome of a good scrap

Under the Sale of Goods Acts a product HAS to be fit purpose. The purpose in this case is to be able to receive DTT in your house not in Comet's bl**dy store. (Proline is a Comet Own Brand.)

Next point. Under the Act, for the first six monthsi is for the retailer to prove that a product ISN'T faulty NOT you prove that it IS. That is to say, it is for Comet to prove that it does work in your house not for you to prove that is doesn't.

However having said that, if you have other digital devices that do work and the Proiline doesn't it means that it is 'Not fit for purpose' - in your case. The fact that it works in Comet's store (With, as you say, all its amplifiers.) is niether here nor there.

If it was me. I'd go back, speak to the manager and be firm!

Under the law they have to give you a full refund. Don't take a credit note or similar rubbish because you may want to take your business to a company that deals with customer complaints better. Do not take any cr*p from them if they don't comply just go staight to your Local Small Claim Court - you WILL win.
