whistling noise Mira power shower?

when my power shower is being used , if my control is for only half flow of water coming out it makes a sharp whistling noise but if i turn it to full the the noise stops . The plumber said this normal but i beg to differ as i have never herd this before in my life regardless of any showers .

We installed a mira shower as part of a bathroom installation and the next day the customer informed us that there was a whistling noise, and we heard it ourselves, very loud. The reason for it was cold water was coming out of the shower but it was also wanting to push itself down the hot water feed due to the inbalance of pressure between hot and cold. You need to fit non return valves to stop it. You can also decrease the noise temporarily by turning down your cold water pressure via your mains tap so that it is more balanced with the hot water feed.

my new mira does the same it whistle when u reduce the temperure so more cold is pumping into the mixers. i have just put the shower on and opened the cold tap in the bathroom at the same time and it cured the noise therefore i need a reducing valve. my shower is combi hot water mains cold water. mira should get a grip and put it with there showers

the problem is sprints cant cope with the full mains presure reducing valve is required

Im having the exact same problem except for now my shower has shut itself down with a low pressure fault Ive taken the shower off cleaned the inlet filter and checked to make sure I have a good flow of water but cant seem to resolve the issue I dont want to replace the shower but looks like I have no choice its a mira sprint 8.5kw wondering if I need a more powerful shower if this solves the problem will let you know..

I had a new Mira Discovery B.I.R. shower fitted by previously reputable plumbers and then experienced exactly the same problem. Whistling at the optimum temperature, hot water from Combi and cold from mains. The reason was because the original plumber had forgotten to place the little filter in the shower head. Once fitted (on delivery of a new filter) the problem was immediately resolved. Also to be noted esp. on mains pressure systems is the need to ensure that the coupling of shower head to pipework is immobilised as this is only a push fitting. After 3 visits from the professionals to cure the leaks I fixed this myself!

I sorted out the same problem with a mains cold water fed electric Mira Sport shower. The filter within the water inlet connection just wanted cleaning. Problem solved!

I have the same problemwith a cold fed electric Mira Sprint. It whistles at exactly the point where you want it on the temperature regulator. It drives me insane. I used to have a Mira Sport but it broke down so i bought the sprint model. It never happened with the sport.

I have had the same problem, but not with a power shower, my shower is fed hot from a combi boiler and cold from the mains.
I contacted Mira Showers help desk and they say it is an imbalance between the hot and cold water at the mixer and installing a pressure reducing valve on the cold side should eliminate the noise.
To test for an imbalance, when the shower makes the whistling noise, turn on a cold water tap at the hand basinor elsewhere, if the noise stops, then there is an imbalance..
