How can I fix my JVC GR-SXM740u?

How can I fix my JVC camcorder? When we record anything it will not let you see the image. You can see the outline of the person or object and the rest of the background; the entire image will be a scrambled gray image. We can hear the recording. We are wondering if our little girl pushed a button or my husband or I did when we were recording and caused this to happen. Please help us, I have not been able to get a hold of manufacture (all I get is a recording) and it is not covered by the warranty. The camcorder is a JVC GR-SXM740u and on the box it states it is a compact VHS. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Elsa
