Making a noise?

I have a noise coming from my loft (I think as I cannot pin this down). It sounds like a kettle boiling.

It lasts for approx 15-20 seconds then stops. It starts again after approx 15 minutes and has been doing it for approx 2 days now. Happens every 15 minutes, even though the central heating and water is OFF. I have a combi boiler behing my fire downstairs and a header tank (i think) in the loft. I can only hear the noise upstairs so I dont think it is coming from my boiler ??!!

Anyone with similar problems or know what it could be?

I have read on other posts that maybe the radiators need bleeding as there is air in the system??

Others have said that I need a new pump or fan??

Any advice welcome.

Thanks in advance

check immersion is switched off, check to see if boiler is on ( look under fire) cos what you're hearing is boiling over. the water in the tank is boiling and going up the vent pipe and boiling into the header tank.

1st point, check immersion heater and turn off.

you dont need a fan, cos you dont have one too

Actually just noticed a problem.

The hot water is extremely hot !! Far hotter than ever before.

Is it possible that the water tank is continuosly heating the water (that is why it is sounding like a kettle) and stops after a few seconds as it cuts out as it has reached max temp? Then as it cools it starts again (approx 15 mins)

If so what do I need to do? Is it the pump or the thermostat or something else?

PLEASE HELP

Should also point out that heating is working fine and so is the hot water.

No other problems that I know of except this noise.

Please help
