How can I fix a leak in my plastic water butt?

Have a plastic water butt used to water plants in garden. Just recently have noticed it has a small crack on bottom edge - near tap. As there's most pressure here it is leaking quite a bit. Am reluctant to just throw it away if it can be repaired for not too great a cost.

Clean and lightly sand the split seam then use a hot glue gun dribble on some hot glue. If you can do inside and out. Water butts are usually made of polypropelene and hot glue bonds really well.

obtain a piece of plastic that you can melt with a soldering iron, and simply weld it with the melted plastic.
As meerkat says,Simple!!
