Ford 6000 CD losing radio signal?

Hi, This seems to be a fairly common problem with the Ford 6000 CD, but I'm yet to find the fix... My 6000 radio will be fine for maybe 10 minutes after switch on, then the radio will behave like it's lost the signal. The FM stations cut in and out with all the usual hiss associated with a very distant signal. The AM stations whistle and whine really badly too. I'm thinking that there's maybe a problem in the RF amplifier area? I have no schematics or repair manual for this unit. Anyone know what the actual problem is and how to fix it?... 'coz I like my radio and it's driving me mad!

Thanks for the answer Nigel. Hopefully someone will know what the problem is! If I can find an engineer who's got the time and patience to tackle this, then I'd rather pay him/her than buy a new radio from Ford.

Hi Dave, yes this is a known fault, I have yet to find a cure or any schematics. Fords answer is, sell you a new radio, great for them cr*p for us consumers
