Renault/phillips cd player beeps at me! I have code but cannot enter it?

I have a Phillips cd player for my Renault Kangoo its the same as the tape player I preciously had! I have the code for it but it has no screen like the Tape player! so I cannot see the code I am entering and it seems whatever i do it just beeps at me! I have followed the instructions in the renault book to enter the code manually using the buttons on the front instaed of the satelite bit but still the same tone comes from all buttons?

You will not be able to use this radio - the reason being that the radio checks itself out first and tries to send a signal to the display unit and because the display unit is not connected and unable to respond then an error occurs, it will never let you enter the code without the display being connected first. .co.uk to my name for radio code problems

As Mark has already answered, you have to first let the radio "unlock" itself by switching it on as though you intend to enter a code (ie by pressing the relevant button (AS ? ) plus the ON switch at the same time) and leaving it undisturbed until it unlocks (up to nearly 11 hours sometimes )......(note: If your radio automatically switches off before it has unlocked itself, then you may have to take it out and wire it up directly to a battery and speaker on a bench and leave it switched on overnight............If you are trying to enter the code "blind"..ie without a display, then what you may have to do is to add one extra push to each digit entered. This is because the first push of the button alters the display from -(dash) to 0 (Zero)....so a code of 3045 would be entered adding an extra push for each digit making it 4156

once you have entered a incorrect code you have leave the radio switched on for a least 5 mins then if you enter the code incorrect again the next time you will have to wait for 10 mins so enter the code correctly ,also the correct code or you will not get the radio to work.
