My Merc SLK has an Audio 10. Display reads "CODE ERR"?

Following disconnection of the battery for a short while, I now get the "CODE ERR" message and I can't enter the code. When the radio is first switched on the message "CODE" appears but changes after about two seconds to "CODE ERR" What should I do?

The Error message normally means that the wrong code/wrong method has been used to enter the code, so make sure that you have the correct code. The Merc Audio10 is a BECKER model and what might reset it is to switch it on as though you intend to enter the code (usually pressing a button (AS or similar) plus the ON switch, then leave it switched on (undisturbed ) until it unlocks itself (possibly up to 12 hours) , then enter the correct code and all should work.

Please post back here whether this was successful or not.
