AEG SANTO Fridge - power clicking on and off?

My problem is with an aeg 3688-6ka. It started a couple of months ago, but then cleared for about 6 weeks. Some of the time i can turn the power on and it works normally for up to 1 hr (and the temp starts to fall on the read out) but the power starts clicking on and off again and the temp just climbs back up. Would be very interested in a DIY solution as I've since relocated to Spain from the UK where i purchased it and the Electrolux network here said they can't help (don't know why). A link to an exploded diagram would be helpful if one exists on the internet as would any pointers for how to test so i can source the correct parts. I'm from an IT/electrical engineering background, so don't fear having a go. The fridge cost about £650 and has had little more than 2 years use (was in storage for a long time), so I'm obviously keen to resurrect it. Many thanks in advance.

I have a AEG-Electrolux Combi Fridge Freezer S75388KG18 and the temperature lights started blinking with a beep. Then all the lights just went off. Now the machine doesn't turn on. I tried to unplug the fridge and plug in again... no success. What can it be ?

The problem is a faulty kondensator in the electrical circuit (in my fridge behind the console just behind the door)
The spec is: 1uF, 275 Volt, RM 27,5 mm.
Will stop the blinking.
Photo's can be found on German sites.

Mr Salisbury. I am going to have a crack a fixing this by replacing the 2 sensors. Do you have the part numbers and did you find an exploded diagram. Are you able to forward this to me at andy@musicdept.net, Can you describe how to access the sensors.

Mr Glen, July 2008
I have the same problem. I'd be interested to know if the new sensors solved this problem and whether they are accessed from within the fridge or through the back.

Thanks again for the responses. The sensors do come in pairs and are available from espares for sub £20. I tested both sensors with the diode/continuity test on my multimeter and they both came through at 1.20 & 1.21. This is with the the door open and fridge off at room temperature. Not really conclusive, i'd hoped one would be open circuit or a very different reading to make the decision easy. For £20 it's probably worth a pop at changing the sensors though. I also forgot to mention that the clicking on/off stops when the door is open and starts again as soon as it's re-closed. Don't know if that points further towards anything? Thanks again for all the input - greatly appreciated.

I bought in 2003 and since had problems, have a look on website, this product not available anymore, problems with compressor and senser board, 8 call outs and high level complaint, i have the freezer to match so not so easy to get rid.

you can test them but i dont know the resistance values related to temperature. If they are open circuit then they are at fault.normally its the one up the back of the evapourator although they might come as a pair .not to sure

Many thanks for the responses. I know where the two sensors are located and how to remove the back panel of the fridge compartment. Is there a way of testing them before i buy the necessary part? Thanks again.

if the interior light flashes on and off then it is telling you it has a fault.favourite fault is evapourator sensor faulty

ck, May 2008
you got fault with fridge sensor
