Ariston margherita a1635 when I select a program then switch it on, it to tries and drain constantly but no water is being pumped into the drum. The dial also starts to turn continually.

This happens when the electronics get messed up, you need to switch of the machine, set the dial to the blue dot, hold in the power switch, the red light will blink 3 times, release it, switch of the machine, set it to the desired wash, then switch on. I have done this many times, it always works unless you have a blockage in the pump. If you look at the bottom front of the machine, their is a facia you can take of (obviously disconnect power first), you will find any hairgrips, coins etc in there.

In the manual it states for this problem that you need to wait a few minutes for the drain pump to empty the tub, switch Margherita off, select one of the symbols stop/reset then switch it back on. If the knob continues to turn, call for assistance because it is showing an anomaly. This is word for word from the manual.This is for selector knob keeps turning.
Constantly draining, tells you to check the hose height it should be 60 to 100cm, is end of hose immersed in water or does the wall drainage system have a breather pipe? This is word for word from the manual. Hope it helps.
