My computer keeps freezing?

I have win xp sum times wen it boots up it freezes and i have to restart. When am trying to install software it freezes what can it be am lost and need help. I have checked everything and can;t find the fault so please help?? Thanks

i am on dial/up and using win 2000 my computer keeps turning itself off and freezes all the time

I had a similar problem.

Check your cooling fans are all working properly and that you haven't got masses of dust inside the case.

Difficult to identify the problem from the information you have given. i would be inclined to reinstall XP, you may have deleted a system file inadvertently.
