The brushes are usually a 'click' fit in the back of the motor - at the opposite end to the belt pulley. Accessing the motor though is often easier said than done - the machine sometimes has to be tipped on its side to get there. There's also no guarantee that brushes will sort the problem, but at least they are cheap enough.
