Fridge works on 12volts when towing but not when disconnected from the towing vehicle. Have you switched control panel from car to caravan/auxillary? Yes!
Are all other 12volt systems working ok Yes!
then you may have a blown fuse feeding the fridge !.
Are all other 12volt systemes working ok No! then the main 12 volt fuse has blown. Check all of the fuses.
Are fuses ok? Yes! then you may have a problem with the car/caravan switch. Remember to chage fuses using the same rating don't go higher or lower.
Now for the gas: It does take time to purge air from the system so that might be why the gas side doesn't work your not giving time for gas to get through.
Check: Is the in-line gas tap feeding the fridge ON? Yes!
Can you see the spark through the viewing window inside the fridge? No! your igniter is faulty or if battery type needs a new 1.5 usually battery.
Does the pilot light go out even when the control knob is held down/in for the relevant and or longer than time stated and does this happen each time? Yes! then you may have 'Thermocoupler' fault. This is the fail safe system on fridge,heater, hotwater heater and oven.
New government regulatons mean any work on gas or mains elecs have to be carried out by comptent persons registered with corgi for gas and hold a Part P certificate for elecs, even in motor homes or caravans.
