why is there no sound from my kenwood a-97 amplifier?
i brought a older kenwood stack system of ebay. the problem is with the amp its a kenwood A-97 intergrated stereo amplifier. when i turn of cd direct and want to use the bass and treble controlls i cant use them there is no sound. i turned the volume up full and could then here some sound and could here the bass and treble controlls working please help

i have a-97 amplifier.
i bought the kenwood system from comet many years ago.
i get no sound from my center speaker, only light fuzzy noise.
the rear speakers and fronys work fine with great sound.
can any one help???

I have had one of these for 15 years. sorry if some of this is a bit condescending. Check that your cableing is correct and that you have the amp set to CD. Assuming that was correct now make sure that the Linear Accoustic knob is set so that the mark on it faces upwards. This stereo setup was very tempramental about how it liked to work but hopefully one of these suggestions will solve your problem.

I have a similar fault on my A97 amp. Mine has sustained a cracked front control panel and some of the print has broken.I suspect you probably have the same problem and the microprocessor lines are probably broken.The pcb has some very fine print runs and is almost impossible to repair severe damage.
Do you want to sell the amp for spares????
