There is no self-help solution to this one, sorry. It is one of a massive batch of units that were supplied to JVC by a third party - they fitted an under rated capacitor which tends to overheat and causes a protection close down. From experience (I had FOUR that did this!!) the problem starts spasmodically and resets eventually - until it is terminally useless. In USA JVC provide a free repair - in the UK, guess what? (Unless it's under warranty) - an authorised repairer will charge around £70. Worth it - once fixed it's a great unit. Peter.
