yamada dvr 9000h - unable to burn to dvd+r disc?

hello, the basic problem is that when I try to copy files from my Yamada DVR 9000h to a black dvd+r, the machine just thinks the disk is an RW and formats it to a useless state.
I've tried cleaning the laser lens but to no effect.
please help.

Why bother ?

Just copy the drive contents to your PC.

It's formatted in FAT32 and you can remove the disc and just put it into a removal USB disc caddy / case and then copy to the PC. (You have to give the files an .avi extension.

But it works a treat and I use it to save copying to dvd and then copying dvd to the PC etc. I use it with the disc out of the case so I can just copy when I like.

BTW occasionally it gets full and you have to re-format it (FAT 32) so if you get one, save the blank directory struicture to your PC (zero size, just the folders) and you can copy the structure back after you've re-formatted it in your PC.

Just fixed my Yamada 9000H with a Sony dru190A DVD writer (from Amazon here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DRU-190A-Internal-DVD-RW-Retail/dp/B000Y1FO5G).

Apparently this is a rebadged Liteon and the Yamada is also Liteon ...

I connected the DVD to my PC first, loaded a DVD to set it (automatically) to region 2, removed the front plastic plate and drawer front and it fits into space left by removed DVD writer from the Yamada.

Used araldite to fix it to 4 base posts and bent the front metal clips in the 9000H to fit the new writer.

Hey presto works like a charm!

Hi, I have the same problem. Matt, you said you just replaced the DVD writer, can I ask does it matter what type of DVD writer should be use?

Replace the DVD Drive with a new one and it works fine, thats how i fixed mine.

I'm using RW disks only :-( They seem to work IF you don't fill them

Very little help to you, I'm afraid, but I just wanted to show solidarity... mine’s the same. It used to be OK, but gradually deteriorated. I repair computers for a living, so thought I’d replace the burner, as they can be had for buttons now, but it’s been modified in a way which would be very difficult to do (unless you're an electronics engineer maybe). Even substituting another standard burner just to see made the whole thing lock up.

And I can't find anybody who’ll repair it – Yamada don't respond to communications. Wakerns.

I found my machine to be very sensitive to sisc type - doesn't like verbatim +R but works fine with Phillips +R.

See if you can borrow a few discs of different types and try them.
