washing machine will not spin unless it has no clothes?

My GE washer will spin out the water as long as it is empty. As soon as you try to do a load of clothes it won't spin. I would appreciate any help you could give me with this. Thank you so much.

Hi Sheryl,
One time that happened to us with our kenmore washing machine. It just needed a new belt. This could be your problem too, the belt is slipping during a load.
