how to fix HP Laptop?

Hi, any help would be great. I was using my Laptop last night when the plug for the external speakers fell out. When I when I went to reinsert the plug I touched the USB port with the plug and the Laptop immediately went off - no slow close down more like someone had turned the mains off really sudden. I've checked the fuse on the plug would it have an internal fuse?? or any other ideas on how to fix it?

thanks

On the bottom of your laptop there should be a small hole with the word reset by it. Insert a small object like a match stick or ball point pen tip in the hole push lightly untill you feel a light click.that will reset your system. If that dos not work you may have shorted something on the motherboard. If that is the case it is not user serviceable and will have to be taken to a repair center. If you go that route be sure and get a repair quote before the work is done. Depending on the age and configuration of the computer the repair may cost more than the computer is worth
