how can I fix my craftsman chainsaw model 358.37230 2.3/18"?

I was using my chainsaw the other day,ran out of fuel, refueled and it would not start.I found gas coming out of the muffler.
It was running fine before that and I did not spill the gas when refueling. The only thing I have done to it latly is put a new fuel line on it and a new gas filter the line is not leaking.I would like to fix it but not put alot of money into it I have had it for years.Any ideas?

SOUNDS LIKE U MAY HAVE SOME TRASH IN YOUR NEEDLE INLET. THATS WHERE YOUR GAS FIRST COMES IN THE CARB. TAKE CARB. APART AND CLEEN IT.
