The Display Unit in my Vauxhall Astra does not work. I need assistance plea?

I have a 2004 Vauxhall Astra wirh a CD500 radio howefver the Display Unit does not work. Has anybody out there any suggestions please.

Yes a pair of extracters can be bought at halfords or off ebay

I have tried to remove from dashboard but the radio/cd will not budge. Do I need a special tool?

It is a plug-in unit at the back of the radio. If you have the code for the radio, remove from dashboard and check connection. If still does not work , then buy spare replacement off Ebay
