My land rover is losing water, however it is showing no signs of a leak, the temperature guage is going a bit high and I am having to put water in every day. I have checked the oil and it is clean, the car has had a service within the last three weeks. The make and model is, landrover ,freelander 1800 petrol, year 2000

I'd say your head gasket MAY have gone..

the 1800 petrols are renown for failing head gaskets and they usually bridge across on the water galleries...you wont see emulsified oil because the water is actually being burnt off in the cylinder........in extreme cases you get water emission from the exhaust tail-pipe...but that IS extreme

any decent garage should be able to detect exhaust gas in the coolant if it has.

good luck with it

most likely leak on the rad, which once hot evaporates lost water.
look at hose fixings etc for limescale type mess. run engine car stationary- see if you cna spot problem
if water insidecar- heater marix= bugger of a job generally.
