Pete's method works well, for getting at the on/off switch, and also changing the cable, for which this is necessary. If you are changing the cable on a DC03, as I've just done, then all that is needed is to get the on/off switch out, as that is where the cable plugs into. A small allen key and a screwdriver or two is all that is needed. I got a replacement cable delivered for £15.27 from ezee-fix.co.uk, and it works just fine. My antipathy to all things Dyson, with their £25 filters, is as firm as ever!
