Dyson DC03 absolute plus, How do I take the on/off swith off?

I have a Dyson DC03 absolute plus, The cable has been stretched just as it goes into the body, so I need to remove the switch so that I can shorten the cable.

Thanks

Many thanks - was struggling for ages thinking the small hole at the back of the on/off switch was hiding a screw ! Gently prised out the on/off switch (suggest you do the right side first) and BINGO !!

The switch has a small attachment which will come out with a small screw driver. It takes a bit of prising down the side, go in vertically Be careful with this, I broke mine. After this is removed a small allen screw will allow you entry to the inners of the switch. Best of luck

Pete's method works well, for getting at the on/off switch, and also changing the cable, for which this is necessary. If you are changing the cable on a DC03, as I've just done, then all that is needed is to get the on/off switch out, as that is where the cable plugs into. A small allen key and a screwdriver or two is all that is needed. I got a replacement cable delivered for £15.27 from ezee-fix.co.uk, and it works just fine. My antipathy to all things Dyson, with their £25 filters, is as firm as ever!

i found a great way with the removal of the cable from the moulded cable entry shroud, remove the 2 insulated cables leaving the outside core enpty and use a screw and screw the screw into the hollow cable and then use a pair of pliers to pull the screw eventually by doing that and digging with a screwdriver you should remove the old cable,

With the new cable strip about 3 inches off the end leavng just the 2 new insulated wires and moisten with saliva the outside sheath then push it inot the new molded shrous then simply connect it took 10 mins this way

Spot on Pete thanks very much, poppped it off last night after gingerely pushing a small screwdriver down and shortened the cable succesfully, even had some new crimp terminals hanging about in the garage.
At last a job that went to plan.

Mark, Not sure if this helps, but I have a DC03 (approx 6 yrs old), so not sure if the same power switch as the absolute plus.

Anyway, I had a similar sort of problem - to remove the yellow plastic cover need to gently prise the edges of the main upright housing unit away from the switch cover and the plastic cover can be easied out (basically it's has 2 ball tabs which slot into sockets in the main housing to allow the rocking motion for on/off along with a spring). Once this cover is off there's a single screw which holds the electrical part of the on/off switch in, take this out and the unit comes away easily. Biggest pain after this is: the cable was glued into the flexible plastic protector just as it enters the unit - took ages to get bits out ...)
Sorry if not clear but it's hard to describe
