my bathroom ceiling light wont work!?

have got a round ceiling light, which takes a 2D bulb and the light is also connected to a wall fan. Both light and fan come on when pulling the cord, when it worked!!
The problem started when the light started flickering on and off, then would not come on at all, so i replaced the 2D lamp with a new one, but it still will not work. Any ideas please.

If you live near Rugby, Warwickshire I can repair it safely as I am a qualified electrician. Call Paul on 07747 571292

It is illegal to fiddle with items like this unless you are suitably qualified. You could easily burn your house down and once your insurance assessor works out you have been fiddling with electrics you will be up a well known creek without a paddle!

This lamp unit has a 'choke' fitted to it, and these fail with the same frequency as the bulb, I'm afraid. You'll not buy the choke separately so its best to replace the whole lamp. Your extractor fan shouldn't be affected in any way though.
