Trimmer will start and idle but as soon as trigger is pulled it dies.

the problem lies with the special tool needed to adjust the carb. California has special tool to make the most common adjustments. Normally a slot screwdriver was needed howerver your tool wont work the same after a few uses. Youll have to pay a lawnmower shop to adjust idle and fluel. I need help finding this small hand tool......help

The air control on the carb needs adjusting.
Remove the cover to do this by removing the two screws holding it together
