easy way to cut climbing ivy?

I have some ivy in my garden which has now grown over my neighbour's wall, and has gone on to the top of his garage.
Please can someone give me some advise as he said that I have to get on roof and cut it all back. Also that i have to pay for the rubish to be cleared away.
I have never had this trouble before and would like someones advice. My last neighbours always used to cut it themselves.
Than You

Ivy can be a nightmare, it is very quick growing and as you are finding out is very invasive. You need to cut it back away from the roof of your neigbours gargae. you can use secatuers normally as young Ivy isnt particularly thick or strong. If you leave this to die off for a few weeks it should be easy to remove the dead branches from the roof. Keep it trimmed back each year. Hope you find this helpful
