How can I fix my Epson R300 paper jam problems?

I have an Epson R300 photo printer which now always shows that there is a paper jam when there doesn't seem to be one. Wonder if anyone has come across this with this printer before?

Alternatively, if all else fails...turn off the power/disconnect leads, turn the whole thing upside down and shake it vigorously...then in my case you will get a small rusty screw, the size of a match head fall out and almost blind you! God alone knows what it came from, possibly a paint brush, but it was in there and it had fouled the whole thing up. Suffice to say, that was the problem!!

It is very common problem I had also very similar kind of problem but I sorted it out and now My printer is working good.

When my paper jam happened, unplugged it from the mains and computer connection, take out any paper in the feed tray.
When you look into the printer from the back ie look down where the paper is fed, there are some white plastic wheel to the left side and a blackish plastic flap to the right. Carefully with your finger nail flick this black flap several times.
Reconnect your printer and try the print option from any programme.

It seems as though something as simple as a dust build up can cause a blockage, and therefore the paper will not travel through correctly.

This has worked with mine, but I don't know how long it will last.

Good luck with yours.

I've been pulling my hair out all morning trying to solve my paper jam problem. Cleaned the rollers, tried taking it apart, anything - then found this tip. Fed an old Fathers Day card through (doesn't have to be birthday card you know) and it pushed a 6 inch ruler out of the mech!

forcing a A4 sheet of card into the print and printing the test page seemed to work for me too. ty.

fixed persistent paper jamming in my SW515 using birthday card trick. Thanks!

Mine is an SX115 and the paper was fouling in the centre of the sheet as it entered the printer. I was about to buy a new one when I read about the greeting card trick. Worked a treat, no problems now. Thanks

turn your epson nx515 printer off, don't bother disconnecting your usb or power cable, look in the EXTREME top left BOTTOM CORNER,you will see a big, white wheel, with a clear, like glass, round ,wheel shaped,RUBBER! thing attached to it, push it forward say 3 times, with your thumb or index finger,,you will both hear and feel a distinct BUMP CLICK each time, the roll it backward say 3 times, you will both HEAR and FEEL a distinct RATCHETING sound, close the cover, turn the printer back on,the endless message that says, "paper is jammed in your printer", WHEN IT ISN'T,HAS NOW VANISHED!!!,AND YOUR PRINTERS FIXED!!!,you've overcome THE EPSON ENGINEER'S BUILT IN BOOBY TRAP TO STEAL YET MUCH MORE OF YOUR MONEY,MAY GOD PURSUE THESE LIEING,CHEATING,STEALING,HUMAN VOMIT BAG'S TO THE DEATH!!!,discovered it through sheer intuition, which was the gift that god gave me,must be a deliberately designed and emplaced mechanical sensor put there to cause this very problem!!! by,guess who???

I too had this problem and followed the advice of running old birthday cards through on a nozzle check. It took a couple of runs and produced a dried moth and a lump of bluetack (thanks kids) but it now works.
Thanks to all who recommended this.

I tried the thick card trick and it pushed out something that had dropped inside the printer! Working perfectly now. Thanks.

I used a 110 card stock sheet, pushed it thru during
a nozzle check, and it worked! Thanks for a great tip!

Just had same prob with clients R300. Problem was a peanut that had been dropped inside. It was cleared by putting piece of thick card through during nozzel check.

I had the same "paper jam" message on my Epson R320 for about a month. I tried the April 2009 suggestion - the old greeting card during the nozzle check - and it worked! Thanks so much.

Hello. I realize this is an old post, but I figured that anyone might be having this same sort of problem at anytime, so I thought I would post one solution that worked for me. Problem: Printer(Epson Stylus Photo R300) always showing "Paper jam" when there isn't anything visibly jamming the printer. My solution: Run an old unfolded greeting card or sheet-sized piece of card stock through the printer while running Nozzle Check. I did this and my printer started working fine immediately thereafter. I'm not sure WHY...perhaps there was some dust buildup or other invisible matter that was pushed out/cleared by the thickness of the card. Anyways, I hope this helps anyone else who has this same problem.

My paper jam problem was resolved by opening and then closing the CD loader (which I have never used).
