How can I fix a cut in a leather jacket?

I have a cream leather jacket that has a small clean cut on the arm that I need to fix. Can you offer me any advice? I thought of trying a patch like the kind you can buy to fix torn jeans but I do not know where to find one.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

There is quite a large cut down from the side pocket on my leather jacket. I am a little worried on how to repair it, can you recommend a professional who can mend it for me?

I would reccomend seeking professional help to rectify this. If you want to try this yourself you could apply a patch (on the back) using a very thin piece of material and some flexible glue that is suitable for the job. This would help to strengthen the area and stop it getting any worse but you would still have a visible split. Depending on the type of leather the split could be repaired back to new.
