my simpson enduro 701 makes a humming noise after filling with water when it should be starting to agitate. I think it only agitates in one direction and not the other. Also it is not spinning properly there fore the clothes are coming out still dripping with water.

Is it making a rattling noise? if not then it could be something simple like a motor coupler most of them are made of plastic and wear out. Or it could be the transmittion which is terminal since the cost of a new one would be near the cost of a new machine. anyway if its rattling then chances are there is a problem with the tranny and if not it should be an inexspensive part and with some direction from your local service man you should be able to fix it.
