Yeah plug the baby monitor in,turn it on .
Next take the other unit ,you can listen to the baby on the other side of the room, test it so you can see that the unit works.
A good idea is to make sure everything you say in that room is coming out on the baby monitor's sound box.
After you verified it works,put the one unit near the baby and the other in a room you will be in.
Please note : these are radios that are in the 49MHZ and 900MHZ bands they can be heard for miles by radios called scanners and can be an added security risk for your family! So think twice before use!Dont say ok honey Im leaving for work now.....you get the idea.
