I will bet that the t/couple wasnt the problem here.These are a nightmare for pilot shrinkage.The pilot tube needs taking out and the injector possibly poking out with a fine pin.

Replace the thermocouple. You may find that a 'universal' replacement from Screwfix or a plumber's supplies outlet will do the job.
Turn the boiler off remove the old thermocouple and take it with you as a sample. Only tackle this job if you are competent. Should cost you less than a tenner.
