try erasing just using windows. it works for me in vista. Then Roxio will accept it no problem. Why do you have to change them to divxx. Why not just use the windows dvd maker to encode .avi .wmv or .mpeg and then burn as a DVD. I burned a film last week and played it on my dvd player no problem. It took a while but you can browse, send email and do your normal businesss. I just let it run in the background and a few hours later i've a dvd at the end of my session. Hope this helps. Divxx is pretty high quality i think. Nero makes a pretty decent VCD. I've tried that too and it's not bad quality.
