how do i replace belt on amana washer lwa50aw?

my amana washing machine model# lwa50aw would not agitate or spin. i opened it up and noticed the belt was off and had several splits. what's the best procedure for getting in there and replacing the belt?

I just replaced the belt and pump on my Amana washer. The only addition I would make to the previous answer by Jim is that you will need to loosen the hose clamps and remove the two hoses from the pump. You could do this right after removing the electrical connection. Make sure you put some towels down to catch and soak up water coming from the hoses.

I have the same problem - I have the motor out andthe 3 screws that holds the pump but the pump does not want to come off - Is there something else that holds the pump onto the motor shaft?

Remove the two screws on the bottom of the front panel. Remove the panel. Remove four hex bolts that attach the motor to the drum. Disconnect the wiring connector from the motor. Remove the motor. Once the motor is out, remove the 3 screws that hold the pump onto the motor. Remove the pump. Attach new belt to motor pulley. Reassemble in reverse of above instructions.
