Error code E3 in the Ford Audio Guide says "Clean the disc and try again. If error still shows see your Ford dealer" so I`d try two things..First try cleaning the CD laser using a CD cleaner (available for around a fiver on Ebay + elsewhere ).This is a CD with inbuilt brushes which , when coated with cleaner, supposed to clean the laser lens...(It has worked for me) .Secondly try a "reboot" by removing fuse or battery connector for 10 minutes, replace then see what happens. Make sure that you have the Security Keycode before disconnecting the battery ( if not ask a NEW question here quoting the SERIAL NUMBER beginning with M******).. If these suggestions don`t work, then it will have to be taken in for repair or buy another one...Good luck and post back here with any results, successful or not....
